 If any citizen loses his/her identity card on the voting day, he/she will be provided with new one within an hour, spokesman for the Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan, Colonel Sadig Gozalov told APA. He said agencies of internal affairs along with relevant organizations had important duties for elimination of violation of rights of the citizens and public order during the election campaign and on the voting day and prevention of pressure upon the election commission members. Gozalov said Interior Minister Ramil Usubov approved special Action Plan in August, 2010 for fulfillment of the duties for prevention of breach of law, for security and democratic conditions of the elections on the voting day. According to the Action Plan, almost all citizens having right to vote were provided with identity cards. Passport offices in 77 regional centers granted ID cards to 326 000 citizens in the past two months. Gozalov said if any citizen lost his/her ID card on the voting day, he/she would be immediately provided with the new one within an hour. Gozalov said security of the candidates and international observers, as well as security of polling stations is also in the focus of attention. “Police will enhance security during transportation of the ballots to the electoral district commissions and then to the Central Election Commission after the end of voting. A special staff was established at the Interior Ministry on order of Minister Ramil Usubov to organize investigation of signals and reports about the breach of law during the election campaign and on the voting day, as well as publications by mass media and to take necessary measures”. Gozalov said the candidates held 1502 meetings with the voters, public order and security is enhanced in addressing places and no serious breach of law was registered, but necessary measures were taken against some cases of violation of rights. “All agencies and organizations of the Interior Ministry will work in heavy schedule from November 5 to 9. Police officers will be provided with normal and quick communication means. Police can enter the polling stations, except the voting goals, only at the invitation of the election officials and can leave the polling stations after restoration of public order”. APA
