 The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) and OSCE Observation Mission mulled the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country. The OSCE Observation Mission delegation led by Ambassador Odri Glover met with CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov today, the CEC reported. Panahov said the commission pays great attention to compliance with the principles of transparency during the preparation and holding of the elections and takes the necessary legal steps to achieve a transparent election process. Glover familiarized with the activities undertaken by the CEC on the parliamentary elections. Panahov informed the guests about the work undertaken to define the voter lists, the program aimed to educate subjects of the election, the current pre-election situation and the planned activities. Glover said the OSCE long-term observation mission consisting of 22 people will arrive in Azerbaijan on Sept.30 and the short-term observers - on Nov.3. Parliamentary elections are scheduled for Nov. 7. Previous legislative elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 electoral constituencies. Trend
