The opposition Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP) appealed to the European Court for human rights to restore the violated rights of the party’s activist.
In August 2007, a lawsuit was filed on Musa Rahim, activist of the Imishli region organization, in accordance with Articles 211.2.2 (hooliganism against the authorities) and 315 (rough violation of public order) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code, the party told TrendNews on 27 October. He was detained because of fetching down roof of his house, writing antigovernment slogans and going hunger strike.
The regional court sentenced Rahim to five-year imprisonment in November 2007. Although appeal and cassation complaints were lodged against the decision of the court, the indictment was kept in power. /Trend/
