Azerbaijan’s Opposition Bloc to operate further

 Azadlig bloc which unites three opposition parties, is not going to stop operating. “Unlike Center for Opposition Cooperation which boycotted presidential election, there is mutual confidence in Azadlig bloc,” Ali Aliyev, chairman of Citizen and Development Party said. The Azadlig bloc unites three opposition parties - Popular Front party, Citizen and Development party and Liberal party. Center for Opposition Cooperation includes bloc Azadlig (Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Liberal Party, Citizens and Development Party), Musavat Party and For Azerbaijan public forum.

Azerbaijani President to be inaugurated on 24 October
|
 The Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will be inaugurated on 24 October. The Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan upheld results of presidential election on 22 October. According to the Article 103 of the Constitutional Court, the president is inaugurated within three days after the Constitutional Court officially announces results of presidential election. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan earns salary worth AZN 15,000 a month after he is inaugurated. Official Baku has not invited heads and officials of foreign countries to the inauguration ceremony of President Ilham Aliyev.

Venice Commission expects law improvement proposals by Azerbaijan

 The Venice Commission expects the proposals from Azerbaijan related to upgrading a range of laws. Venice Commission is ready to assist in upgrading several laws in Azerbaijan including the law on freedom of assembly, political parties and election code, Sergey Kuznetsov, a representative of the Venice Commission, told Trend News by telephone. Venice Commission has recommended the Azerbaijani authorities to improve the legislation and introduce a range of changes and amendments.

UNESCO Director General congratulates Azerbaijani president on his re-election

CEC discloses reasons for cancelling results of voting in eight polling stations

 The results of voting in eight polling stations were cancelled. Azer Sariyev, Spokesman for CEC told APA that ConECs had cancelled the results. The results of voting in polling station # 15 of Salyan-Neftchala ConEC # 60, polling stations #10,29,59 of Fuzuli ConEC # 60, polling station #41 of Agsu ConEC # 87, polling station #29 of Berde ConEC #93, polling stations #27, 36 of Tovuz - Gazakh-Agstafa ConEC # 106 were invalid. In total, 57 760 electors participated in voting in these polling stations.

European Union releases statement on presidential elections in Azerbaijan

 European Union made a statement on the presidential elections held in Azerbaijan, embassy of France chairing EU told APA.  The ruling New Azerbaijan Party says there is no need for any changes in the government after re-elected President Ilham Aliyev is inaugurated. “What is important for us is society’s being able to elect their leader in a fair way which has already happened,” MP Aydin Mirzazade, member of NAP Political Council said to TrendNews. According to Azerbaijan’s Constitution, Cabinet of Ministers resigns after new president is inaugurated and new government is formed. New President forms his team once again within the powers given by the Constitution, Mirzazade said.

Government resigns as Ilham Aliyev is inaugurated for presidency

 Current Government of Azerbaijan will resign on the day of inauguration of Ilham Aliyev for presidency. According to the 116th article of the Azerbaijan Constitution, the Cabinet of Ministers resigns on the day when newly-elected president officially takes his post. Then the President appoints the members of new government. Old cabinet ministers, as well as new persons can be involved in the new cabinet.
