Reelected Ilham Aliyev inaugurates as Azerbaijan’s PresidentReelected Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today been inaugurated in Heydar Aliyev Palace.
APA reports that the inauguration ceremony began with the guard of honour. Following this, state flag of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani President’s color were brought to the hall. Judges of the Constitutional Court were invited.
Chairman of the Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev announced the decision on Ilham Aliyev’s reelection as Azerbaijani President in the elections held on October 15 this year.

Following this, Ilham Aliyev swore on Koran and the Constitution of Azerbaijan Republic and kissed the state flag of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan’s state anthem was played.

The head of state Ilham Aliyev made a copious speech after swearing. The president first expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijani people for confiding in him. Azerbaijan’s President also expressed his gratitude to the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), which nominated him and carried out active campaign, all organizations supporting him in the elections, as well as various opposition parties. The head of state also thanked his rivals, who congratulated him after the results of the elections were announced.

The president gave detailed information about the work done within the previous five years.

Azerbaijani President stressed that the main problem of the country was Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. The Head of State added that Azerbaijan conducted negotiations only within the framework of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and Nagorno-Karabakh would never be independent and it would not be a subject of the negotiations. The President stressed that an international law supported Azerbaijan in this conflict.

Aliyev noted that he would continue policy of Heydar Aliyev during his next tenure and would take proper measures for economic, military and social development of the country. The Head of State spoke about the army building, infrastructural projects and stated that international financial organizations highly assessed the economic development of the country.

The President added that one of the future terms was to carry out equal political and economic reforms.

State officials and government representatives, foreign guests, representatives of diplomatic corps in Azerbaijan, public figures participated in the inauguration ceremony. Mikhail Saakashvili, Georgian President, Jemil Chichek, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister, Sergey Naryshkin, Head of Russian President’s Office, Sergei Lebedev, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary attended the inauguration.
The inauguration ceremony was observed by drum fire shot from vessels in Baku bay. /APA/
