Azerbaijani Opposition Party appeals to European CourtThe opposition Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP) appealed to the European Court for human rights to restore the violated rights of the party’s activist.
In August 2007, a lawsuit was filed on Musa Rahim, activist of the Imishli region organization, in accordance with Articles 211.2.2 (hooliganism against the authorities) and 315 (rough violation of public order) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code, the party told TrendNews on 27 October.

Presidential candidates to submit financial report to CECCandidates run for October 15 presidential elections have to submit financial reports to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) within 10 days after official announcement of the election results, Head of CEC Legal Department Irada Hajiyeva told APA. The candidates have to show figures of incomes and expenditures of their election fund. The candidates gained more than 3 per cent of votes in the elections have to return not-spent part of the resources they received from the government budget within 30 days according to article 73.3 of the Electoral Code.

Azerbaijani former presidential candidates union pretends to new opposition nameHafiz Hajiyev, the former presidential candidate and chairman of the opposition Muasir Musavat party, believes that the presidential candidates’ bloc, which is planned to create, will represent a new opposition.
“A new opposition is formed in the country after the presidential elections. This opposition is capable to hold a civil struggle,” Hajiyev told Trend News.
The preliminary discussions of the issue have been already held. “As a result of the talks, which were held with several candidates, the decision to keep the issue on the agenda and continue discussions was taken,” Hajiyev added.

Musavat Party appeals to Baku Mayor’s Office and Supreme CourtMusavat Party has appealed to Baku Mayor’s Office and Supreme Court, Arif Hajili, Head of Musavat Executive Department told APA. The party appealed to Baku Mayor’s Office to hold meeting on May 4 and 18, but the Office did not allow it. Hajili stated that their appeal had not been considered by Sabail Court and Baku Appeals Court upheld the decision.
“We think to raise this issue in European Court of Human Rights,” he said.
